Care Clinics Of Naperville, Inc. History

Naperville, IL Counseling

Fox Valley Special Consultation (Care Clinics) was approached in early 1981 by Kendall County Human Services to establish a DUI service for Kendall County. The rationale for this was the past experience of the Care Clinics founder in facilitating an alcohol related offender's program at Sinnissippi Mental Health Center and the Care Clinics executive director's law enforcement experience and expertise at the local and county level.

Soon after establishing relations with Kendall County, Care Clinics became involved with Task Forces with the Illinois Secretary of State and the Kane county State's Attorney's office to improve services to DUI offenders. Care Clinics was also requested to provide alcohol/drug services for the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In addition to the above, Care Clinics has also provided non-alcohol/drug services at the United States Army Corps of Engineers offices located in Rock Island, Illinois - Des Moines, Iowa - and the Cape and Islands EMS Association located in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Over the years, Care Clinics has been able to consistently adapt to the changing needs of the court, with updated clinical approaches. Care Clinics has been providing assessments, substance abuse education, and substance abuse/dependency treatment to clients referred to by the probation departments of Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Kane, Kendal and Will counties for close to three decades. Care Clinics has an excellent professional reputation among the referring probation departments. Care Clinics has accepted referrals from other in-state as well as out-of-state counties, probation departments, colleges, employers and other treatment agencies. These referrals were for crimes committed under the influence, for possession, drug trafficking, as well as other crimes that were not substance related, and substance abuse problems which were not criminally related.

Care Clinics, Inc. is licensed through the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) for substance abuse evaluations, substance abuse education, Level I (outpatient) and Level II.I (intensive outpatient) substance abuse treatment.

Care Clinics has previously provided services at jails and IDOC work release programs. At present, we provide individual, group, family, marital, grief/loss, mental illness substance abuse (MISA), and stress management services and treatment.

Treatment services begin with a biopsychosocial and ASAM level of care placement assessment. The clinician then reviews all supporting information. The client and clinician work together to prepare a treatment plan. After reviewing all information, a determination is made as to the most appropriate modality for treatment.

Care Clinics is willing to service individuals 13 years and older who are dealing with emotional/mental health problems, substance abuse/dependency problems, as well as personal and interpersonal problems. Care Clinics has facilities in Aurora, Yorkville and Naperville. An additional facility is in the planning stage for Will County. Clients excluded are those who require detoxification services or those who are not taking prescribed psychotropic medications.

There is a strong emphasis on establishing a 12 step program (or comparable program of support) for chemically dependent clients. Following treatment, clients are provided a continuing care plan that includes monthly continuing care sessions.

Prior to the year 2000, the emphasis on treating substance abusing and dependent clients has been primarily psycho-educational. However, since the 2000 DuPage County Probation workshop on evidence based practice, Care Clinics, Inc. has strived to adapt and include aspects of evidence based practice with a psycho-educational approach to treating clients. Evidence Based Practice refers to a decision making process that integrated the best available research, clinician expertise, and client characteristics.

EBP is an approach to treatment, rather than a specific treatment. The client benefits greatly from such an approach.
